The founding of the Interamerican Society of Psychology 60 years ago was celebrated during the XXXIII Interamerican Congress of Psychology held in Medellin, Colombia from the 26th to the 30th of June of 2011.

One expression of the activities of different directives that span the organization’s 60 years working to make possible the life of the Society, was the invitation of the expresidents of the Society to share their experiences, their historic testimony, evaluations of the present and perspectives for the future of the Soeiety with the participants in the XXXIII Congress. To facilitate this, the Society organized a meeting that was entitled Meet the expresidents of the Interamerican Society. This was an open meeting to which all attendees were invited with special invitations to the National Representatives, the Working Groups, and the current board of directors of the Society. After the meeting, a simple coctail gathering allowe those involved in discussions and conversations to interact a bit longer.
The expresidents who were present were:
Andrès Consoli (USA), at the time the Past President of the Society
Euclides Sanches (Venezuela)
Isabel Reyes Lagunes (Mexico), Coordinator of the Reunión
Jose Toro-
Maria Regina Maluf (Brasil), the then current President
Michel Sabourin (Canada, as the represntative of David Belanger)
Rolando Diaz-
Rubén Ardila (Colombia)
Even though they could not attend physiacally, these sent their written greetings:
Aroldo Rodrigues (Brasil)
Arrigo Angelini (Brasil)
Susan Pick (Mexico)
Those with excused absences were:
Barbara Marín (USA)
Bernardo Ferdman (USA)

At the end of the get together, we all left convinced even more that the Interamerican Society has a history of struggles, successes, and friendships, built across all the years around the Psychology in the American Continent. This history is the basis for new initiatives always tied to the effort to construct a psychology in the service of the well being of all and committed to the social development of our countries.
